It was founded in late 2018 as a non-profit 501(C)3 organization to support members of the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association and their immediate families with scholarship funding.

The board of trustees consists of leaders in the hospitality industry dedicated to our mission to provide scholarship grants, mentoring and resources for individuals entering or furthering their careers.

The team at the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation believes that donations should benefit the purpose of the foundation – our scholarship grant recipient program. We also understand donors expect their generous contributions to be used appropriately.
To ensure maximum benefit, no one on the board or in any capacity within the organization receives any type of compensation from the foundation. All NHLF leaders and participants are volunteers. This helps to maintain nominal overhead costs allowing us to utilize donations in the manner they were intended – to support hospitality industry education and career enrichment through scholarship grants.

We offer academic scholarships for accredited universities and colleges in Nevada. We also offer enrichment programs for those looking to gain educational skills and credentials for the purpose of career enhancement.

The application process opens in the spring and upon conclusion of this process, the board will determine the recipients and grant amounts. Once finalized, the recipients will be notified and assigned a mentor.

An experienced professional from the hospitality industry will be paired with the recipient to help with resources, guidance, internships and other areas of importance to ensure a positive and productive experience for the student.

The Annual Great Chef Run takes place every spring and is a 5K through a local park or venue. It includes food trucks, a DJ, vendors, chef demos and raffles. Hundreds of people either participate in the race, attend or volunteer for this fun event. All net proceeds from the event benefit the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation scholarship fund.

Yes! We host various activities throughout the year with proceeds benefitting the scholarship fund.

Yes! We always appreciate the assistance provided by volunteers. Volunteers help us with components of the Great Chef Run, mentoring of our scholarship recipients and other events throughout the year. To learn more, click here.
