Cliff is a visionary and seasoned hospitality executive with measurable success and industry expertise across the globe in a variety of cultural environments. Let’s learn more about Cliff.
Cliff is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of WE Advisory Group, a consulting company providing seasoned and in-depth advisory services. Atkinson translates his hospitality management experience to provide guidance across diverse industries, including hotel, gaming, engineering, property management, and service-oriented industries. With strategic alliances internationally, Atkinson delivers agile and performance-driven strategies, including market evaluation and economic viability, environmental analyses for hotel acquisitions, operating performance enhancements, comprehensive revenue management services, operations and pre-opening support, training and team building, turnarounds and new building development plans.
Atkinson has a solid progression of executive roles at various hotels, casinos and resorts, remarked by successes of exceeding annual EBITDA budget goals and turning around forecasted shortfalls. Prior to founding WE Advisory Group, he served as the President & COO of Luxor Hotel and Casino, primarily focused on positioning the property to realize substantial revenue growth by revitalizing programs and turning around a profit losing business. Prior to that, he was appointed as the Senior Vice President of Hotel Strategy at MGM Resorts International, where he notably led the creation of a unified portfolio strategic plan aimed at leveraging scale, aligning service standards, identifying cost savings, streamlining internal controls, and enhancing customer loyalty.
Cliff’s leadership positions span across diverse portfolios within the gaming and hospitality industry, including MGM Resorts International, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, RWB Hospitality, and Ian Schrager Company. As a distinguished leader in the industry, he was awarded “Hotelier of the Year” in 2014.
We asked Cliff a few questions-take a look at his insights below.
Q. You recently joined the board of trustees for the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation. What interests you most about this new non-profit scholarship foundation?
A. I am proud and honored to be part of the Board of Trustees for the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation. What interests me most is that the Foundation provides a way to not only give back to our Hospitality Industry, but to also to focus on helping the future of our great State of Nevada.
Q. How does the NHLF benefit our hospitality industry individuals and overall workforce?
A. What I like about the NHLF is that it supports the Hospitality Industry and their families, which is critical to supporting careers and growing our wonderful industry.
Q. What opportunities are available for our communities throughout Nevada to get involved and support the efforts of the foundation team?
A. I call it the “3 T’s” – Time, Talent and Treasure. Anyone can get involved, from joining a committee, volunteering for events and of course sponsoring the NHLF financially and utilizing their company match grants.
Q. What types of sponsorships and other opportunities are available for businesses to support?
A. Companies can become Dedicated Donors, which support the NHLF on an annual basis. Companies and individuals can also sponsor events, such as the upcoming “Great Chef Run” this October. And of course we have our fantastic committees, including Education, Fundraising, Event Planning and Communications.
